Alcest Shares Poignant Album Preview With "Flamme Jumelle"

The second single offers a personal, powerful account of grief in the wake of significant loss and offers another glimpse from their pending LP, Les Chants De L'Aurore.

Earlier this year, French weighty shoegaze specialists Alcest announced the arrival of their long-awaited seventh studio album, Les Chants De L'Aurore. Set to land June 21st via Nuclear Blast Records, the project marked the first full length studio album since 2019's hailed Spiritual Instinct. 

Commencing the campaign for the album, Alcest debuted the first offering from the project with the masterful introduction, "L'Envol". Coupled with an otherworldly video helmed by French artist Yoann Lossel, the single offered an auspicious start to the campaign for an album some five years in the making. 

Now, Alecest has shared a second serving from Les Chants De L'Aurore with an entry the band has revealed to be one of the more personal entries on the album. "Flamme Jumelle" one of the band's more straight-forward submissions, underscoring the versatile songwriting ability and the band's undeniable command of emotion in song. 

Alcest's principle songwriter Neige discussed the track's distinct quality in being both palatable and poignant by design. "Despite its more accessible vibe, this song is actually the most personal song of the album for me. "Flamme Jumelle", which means "Twin Flame", is about the idea of loss in general and the difficulty of coping with the absence of someone you deeply loved. It could be a family member, a friend, or a partner."

Neige added how the track resonates beyond the realm of the physical world. "On a more spiritual level, the title refers to the possibility that certain souls are connected in this life and beyond, and that separation is temporary and just a mortal concept."

In celebration of the album, Alcest will embark on a lengthy live tour later this year that will see the band spend some two months on the road trekking throughout the EU/UK and beyond. A complete list of dates and cities can be found below.
